In the past…

In ancient days, “Elissonas” founded the village of “Elisson” on the same location of Alonistena. Even the River “Elisson” that crosses the village, carries the name of the “founder”. Over the centuries the settlement was the seat for many Arcadian liberation movements, known as “Linistaina” during the Frankish domination and as “Alonistena” during the Turkish domination. During the period of Turkish occupation it was used as a military - camp from Theodoros Kolokotronis (a great hero of the Greek revolution). Alonistena experienced great blossom from 1821 until the middle of the 20th century and nowadays it is declared as a preserved settlement.

Nowadays…
