Travel guide

Agioi Theodori

General info

Welcome to Agioi Theodoroi...

Agioi Theodoroi is a seaside resort with a mild climate which combines mountain and sea, as it is nestled between the “Geraneia Ori” (mountains) and the Saronic Gulf. It is a small town located in the Prefecture of Corinthia, just 20 Km from its capital, Corinth, and 65 Km from Athens away.

In the past...

In 1961, an archaeological excavation took place in the Northwest of the city of “Agioi Theodoroi”, which revealed the ruins of “Krommyona”, an ancient city between Corinthian and Megarida, known mainly from the myth of “Faias” (“Faia” was a wild pig which destroyed crops and was killed by “Theseus”). Other important archaeological findings were the statue of the God Apollo, vases and affine hole-shaped graves and a small circular area, which is not yet determined if it was a devotional area or small Theatre Orchestra. The city got its name from the chapels of “Agioi Theodoroi”. An old tradition says that the Church was built underground, in order to be protected from the Turks, between the road and the sea, using the nearby gorses and locust trees to be hidden from the eyes of bystanders.

Nowadays...

Agioi Theodoroi is a pole of attraction for many visitors during the year, since it is the ideal place for small escapes of tranquillity, away from the heavy and suffocating rhythms of the city. A number of divine coasts and landscapes offer the visitors the pleasure to swim in clear waters and to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding region. The picturesque local taverns are famous for their traditional flavours and fresh fish, while at the graphic small cafes you can have your coffee next to the sea, overlooking the beautiful Saronic Gulf.
